Good Advice for Post-Secondary Students!

According to Dr. T. Alan Hurwitz, Vice President, Rochester Institution of Technology and Dean of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, the college years represent a major transition in life as young people face the challenge of becoming independent, taking responsibility for themselves and making decisions about their future. He advises students to choose a college that has a counseling center which will help them encounter emotional and personal challenges.  Many students have found their sudden freedom from home too much for them to handle and have made poor decisions.  Hurwitz also stated that only 25 percent of a student's time is spent in the classroom. The rest is spent participating in clubs, sports, volunteering, and other social and academic activities that made for a well-rounded complete college experience.
