Deaf People Work Greetings to librarians, allied
professionals and library workers...
Hello, my name is Julia Dunlap. I work as a catalog librarian at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. I am volunteering to help FOLDA with its new directory, "Deaf People Work @ your library®," but I also need your help to make it a success. I have always been interested to know how many deaf people in the world work in the library like myself. I told Alice L. Hagemeyer, FOLDA founder, about my interest to do a study. She encourages me. She said many deaf workers in all parts of the world are also interested to know. She gave me some such names. Here, for our purposes, "deaf" refers to "partially or completely lacking in the sense of hearing" in accordance to Webster’s definition. This word does not imply that all deaf people are fluent in sign language or have a profound hearing loss. They know firsthand the rights of the public to access information regarding deaf culture, hearing losses and disabilities. http://www.folda.net/diversity If you have questions about the application form, please let me know.
